DRUPA 2024 was a showcase of groundbreaking technologies with HP’s Latex technology & Zünd’s digital cutters standing out as key innovations driving the print and packaging industries forward
For Angelique Greer, Midcomp’s Group Marketing Director and Assistant Sales Manager, the standout moment was HP’s latest advancements in its Latex technology, particularly the L800 and L2700 models, which highlight the company’s ongoing innovation in the printing sector.
However, the anticipated launch of the HP Latex 630 Series also drew attention, despite its absence from the event. This new series emphasises HP’s dedication to expanding its product range with versatile, high-performance solutions that cater to the evolving needs of the modern printing industry.
“The HP Latex 630 Series is notable for its use of fourth-generation inks, with a special focus on white ink,” Angelique explains. “This innovation significantly enhances the ability to print vibrant, opaque white layers – an essential feature for applications requiring eye-catching graphics on transparent or colored materials.”
The improved white ink formulation boosts opacity and brightness, ensuring prints retain their visual impact and clarity. This is especially advantageous for businesses in signage, displays and packaging, where high-quality, durable prints are crucial.
Sustainability was another key focus for HP at DRUPA 2024. The HP Latex 630 Series is in line with HP’s broader environmental goals. “These water-based inks reduce the environmental impact compared to solvent-based alternatives. They’re also designed for durability and versatility, extending the lifespan of printed materials and minimising waste,” Angelique adds.
At DRUPA 2024, Zünd unveiled its new Q-Line generation of cutters, featuring the BHS180 board handling system and the integrated UNDERCAM optical capturing system. “This cutting solution sets new standards in automated digital cutting,” states Angelique. She adds that the new Q-Line concept with BHS180 will push performance boundaries in multiple areas and significantly enhance production efficiency over traditional die cutting methods. “The Q-Line series is designed to deliver unmatched precision, speed, and efficiency, serving a broad range of industries, including packaging, textiles, and graphics.”
The Q-Line line is equipped with advanced automation features, enabling smooth integration into existing workflows while minimizing manual intervention. With cutting-edge software and hardware innovations, the Q-Line ensures precise cuts and complex designs, helping businesses meet the growing demand for high-quality, customised products. Additionally, Zünd’s commitment to sustainability shines through in the Q-Line series, which includes features aimed at reducing material waste and energy consumption, aligning with the industry’s increasing focus on eco-friendly production practices.
